Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a state of mind, enhanced by mental and physical relaxation, where communication between the subconscious and our conscious mind is possible. This state allows excellent access to our deep potential,  and may be achieved with the guidance of the therapist. When combined with suggestions that encourage beneficial change, then the process is known as “Hypnotherapy”.

The therapist assists the client to enter a very relaxed state, and then provides suggestions that offer positive alternatives to current, undesired state, by addressing the unconscious mind directly. The therapist will often use the client’s own imagination, metaphor and symbolism, as well as direct suggestion to promote beneficial change.

Concerns

The most common is that the person will not be in control. The fact is that everyone undergoing hypnosis is in control at all times, and it is a myth, probably due to images from stage hypnosis, that one is open to any suggestion, however bizzarre.

A hypnotised person simply will not do anything against their usual ethics, morals or religious belief. You are always aware of what is going on and retain your full sense of judgement.

Regardless of how deeply a person goes into trance and however passive they may appear to be, they are fully able to talk, if they wish to, and can do anything they choose at any time during the process.

If you feel that hypnotherapy may be helpful, but are afraid for any reason, please feel free to call and discuss what would happen in a typical session.

To book a session, or if you have any questions, please contact us. The number of sessions necessary will vary depending on your needs, so it will be best if we have a confidential preliminary consultation.
